A Fictional Story

Sally is working in a Search Engine company. She was assigned to experiment “behavior changing” product and come up with a POC. She took Profile X (Bobs’ Behavior Profile by stored cookies — No personal data was collected here, Just profiling the online behavior — Searching strings, frequency, how much he relay on SE for dayin and day out etc ) for her experiment. She found from the statistics that the Profile X (bob) is 90% relied on SE product (Maps, searches, traversing through web etc). She tried to change Profile Xs’ belief on Real estate price in a particular area. When ever ProfileX searches, what he sees around is Huge price for Real-estate (Be it rent, purchase or lease etc). It is astonishing to note that Profile X, with in few days changed his earlier belief of lower real estate prices and raise his belief bar. Sally took profiles of all people around that locality and feed those profiles the same way she did for Profile X. She was able to change the Belief of the entire population who rely on this search for daily activities and she achieved the objective “Changing the Beliefs and Behavior” in this case “Real Estate Price”.

She said to his colleague — Data collecting, processing and enriching — all are a powerful weapon, which i never know could impact and influence digital society. The kind of food we eat, the frequency we eat, the place we live, travel and rest, the people we interact all are meta data that can profile people. Sally said to herself — I will only use this weapon for GOOD, for bringing champions in existing people and generations to come, rather than making Trillions.
